An SUV slammed into the rear of a parked semi-trailer rig along Interstate 80 early Friday morning, killing one man and sending another to the hospital. Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce said the collision occurred at 5:18 a.m. in a pullout-rest area just off westbound I-80 near mile marker 100, which is on the Salt Lake-Tooele county line. The black SUV had just come off State Road 201 and onto the freeway when it went out of control and struck the semi’s rear trailer at high speed.
